Bold Journey
We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Mackenzie Jaquish a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Mackenzie, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
Thank you, I’m really excited to talk about all things comedy and my production company Pretty Funny Comedy. I would say, my work ethic comes from the women I surround myself with. I grew up in a predominantly female household. My mother never strayed away from a challenge and it pushed my sisters and I to do the same.

At 23 years old, Mackenzie Jaquish moved into a spacious apartment in Seattle with her long-term boyfriend. "We were dreaming about the future, planning the next 20 years of our lives together," she says. One night while doing dishes in her new home, Jaquish discovered the relationship podcast "Call Her Daddy," hosted by Alex Cooper.
Jaquish was dazzled by Cooper's stories about her single life in New York. "I was living vicariously through her," she says. "I remember her telling this story about taking the C train uptown to this clinic to get tested for chlamydia. At the time, I thought, 'That's hilarious, what a different life.'"

Mackenzie, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started in comedy when I was 20 years old, I wrote jokes for an older male comedian who was popular in the city. I had no interest in doing it myself, I just wanted to write, my goal at that time was to be a television reporter. But when he moved from the city, I decided to give it a shot myself, and I fell in love.
